dokbuiles garden grounds

Our Story

A home shaped by
the garden around it.

dokbuiles began as a family home, and that is still what it is — a place where the rhythm of daily life is determined by the people who live there, not by a schedule made for convenience.

About dokbuiles

How this place came to be

dokbuiles — Thai for lotus flower — was established in Bang Lamung, Chonburi, by a family who had spent years watching older relatives manage alone in environments that were functional but joyless. The question they kept returning to was a simple one: why does living well in later years feel like such a concession?

The property already had its pond. The lotus had been growing there for decades before the house became a residence. The decision to orient the rooms toward the water, to plan the garden paths around it, and to let the pond become the natural focal point of daily life was not a design gesture — it was an acknowledgement of what the land already offered.

Since opening, dokbuiles has remained deliberately small. Three room options, a handful of staff who know each resident personally, and a programme of activities shaped each season by the interests and energy of the people who live there. Size is not a limitation here; it is a choice, and one we intend to keep.

Our mission is uncomplicated: to offer older adults and their families a residential home that takes both comfort and character seriously — where the meals are good, the garden is tended, and the days pass in a way that feels meaningful rather than merely managed.

The People

Those who make the home

Every member of our team is chosen for their patience, warmth, and genuine care for older residents — not simply for their qualifications.

Our Standards

What we hold ourselves to

These are not policies written for a brochure — they are the everyday practices that define how dokbuiles operates.

Personal Safety

The residence is maintained to a standard that keeps residents physically comfortable and secure. Ground-floor access, well-lit pathways, and a calm environment are designed into the layout of the home.

Housekeeping Standards

Rooms are serviced each morning. Communal spaces are maintained throughout the day. Linens and laundry are managed on a set schedule so that residents never need to think about it.

Nutrition & Dietary Care

Meals are prepared fresh using locally sourced ingredients. Dietary requirements, preferences, and cultural considerations are accommodated as a matter of course, not as a special request.

Privacy & Dignity

Residents' privacy is respected in every part of daily life. Staff knock before entering rooms, personal matters are handled discreetly, and each resident's sense of autonomy is considered in every decision we make.

Non-Medical Support

While dokbuiles is not a medical facility, we maintain clear protocols for emergencies and maintain contact with local health services. Staff are trained in basic first aid and hold current certifications.

Garden Maintenance

The garden and lotus pond are maintained as living, working parts of the residence — not ornamental. Pathways are kept clear and accessible, the pond is kept healthy, and the planting is tended each week.

About Living Here

Retirement living in Chonburi, done quietly well

Bang Lamung, Chonburi, has long been home to a diverse community of Thai and international residents — a place where cultural and natural life sit comfortably alongside one another. dokbuiles draws on that quality: rooted in Thai hospitality and garden tradition, while remaining accessible and welcoming to residents from beyond the country.

The boarding house model — monthly residence with full board and household services — suits older adults who value independence but appreciate not having to manage a household alone. At dokbuiles, there is no requirement to organise cleaning, shopping, cooking, or maintenance. Those things are simply handled. What remains is time, and how one chooses to spend it.

Families seeking a residential placement for an older parent or relative often find that dokbuiles's small size is one of its most reassuring qualities. There are no corridors to get lost in, no anonymous waiting areas, no rotas of unfamiliar faces. The team is consistent, the home is personal, and the garden is always there — a constant that the seasons vary but never take away.
